Unlike water or steam blasting, the dry ice method allows you to immediately put your equipment back into service, as it requires zero dry time. Dry ice blasting works by projecting highly accelerated soft dry ice, which creates ‘mini-explosions’ upon impact. This results in undesirable items being lifted from the surface without any risk of causing damage.

How Does The Dry Ice Blast Cleaning Process Work?
- To use dry ice, the proper dry ice blasting equipment and dry ice blasting machines must be used. The Dry Ice Blasting process uses pellets made through a process of taking Liquid Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and expanding it to produce a snow like substance that is compressed to make hard Dry Ice Pellets.
- Dry Ice Pellets are then propelled at a supersonic speed by a compressed air gun (similar to other blasting systems). Upon impact, the dry ice creates a micro-thermal shock (caused by the extreme cold temperature of -79º C) which breaks the bond between the coating and the substrate. The high pressure air stream removes the dirt from the surface, while the Dry Ice Pellets vaporize (sublimate) before your eyes.
Abrasive Blasting and Dustless Blasting
Removing even the toughest paint is easy for the Dustless Blaster, but what about removing dozens of layers of hardened paint at once? It’s a problem that just about any company who does any sort of painting has. Once their paint racks or hooks are covered in paint, they either need to get the paint off, or replace the racks and hooks. Paint thinner can’t even begin to remove such thick paint. Sand paper or grinders aren’t effective because they immediately get clogged with paint. Dustless Blasting turns out to be the perfect solution!

Remarkably, even though you can eat through tough coatings, etch concrete and wood, and drill a hole right through metal if you want to, you can also do delicate work.
